How to play the word wheel

A wheel of six or seven letters at the bottom, a small crossword at the top. You spell words with the letters and they fill in the grid. That simple, and that hard to put down.

The rules in a minute

  1. Swipe across the letters on the wheel, or tap them one by one, and let go to try the word.
  2. Each letter is used once per word. If the wheel has two Es, you can use both.
  3. If the word is in the crossword, its squares fill in.
  4. If it's a real word the level doesn't ask for, it counts as a bonus word: it is kept, but you don't need it to finish.
  5. The level is done when you find every word in the grid.

450 levels in 45 worlds

Levels come in worlds of ten, each with its own name and landscape.

The first world is open from the start. There are no locks inside a world: you play its ten levels in any order, so getting stuck on one never stops you playing the rest. A world opens when you finish all ten of the one before.

Every grid has five to eight words, all spelled with the wheel, and all from a reviewed dictionary: words people know, not oddities.

Golden levels

One level in ten is golden: 10, 20, 30… The wheel wears a gold ring, and the squares of the word that uses all its letters shine in the grid from the start. You know where the long word goes, just not what it is.

Bonus words and hints

Bonus words count: Wexel keeps them in Your words, and everything you find, in any mode, adds to your player level.

You get 15 hints a day. Each one reveals a letter of a word you have not found yet. They never punish you. They go back to 15 at midnight, Madrid time, and the ones you do not use do not pile up.

The Growing Wheel

The other way to play the wheel. It starts with four letters and a slot for every word they spell. Find them all and a new letter drops in, the wheel shuffles, and slots appear that were not there before. Four waves, from four letters to seven, about twenty words a level. There are 150 levels.
